Goan Ambot Tik Shark Fish Curry Recipe, Sour and Spicy Fish Curry is a very popular Goan Ambot Tik Fish Dish. Here ‘Ambot’ is Sour which adjusted with vinegar and ‘Tik’ is Spicy which is adjusted with Red Chillies. Ingredients
For Ambot Tik Fish Curry
- 500Â gms Shark (Pilo)
- 1Â medium onion (chopped finely)
- 1 medium tomatoes (chopped finely)
- 2Â fresh chillies (slit)
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar (according to taste)
- 5 tbsp vinegar (according to taste)
- 4–5 tbsp cooking oil
- salt to taste
For Shark Ambot Tik Masala Paste
- 8Â kashmiri chillies (deseeded)
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 10Â garlic cloves
- 1Â inch cinnamon stick
- 10Â cloves
- 5Â black peppercorns
- in small ball tamarind (soakedhot water and pulp extracted)
- 1Â medium onion (finely chopped)
Instructions
- For Goan Shark / Pilo Ambot TIk, first remove the shark skin, wash it and cut it to slices and apply salt.
- Grind the ingredients of Shark Ambot Tik Masala Paste using some water to a smooth and thick paste and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in the cooking pan and add the chopped onions, fry them till the color changes (slightly golden brown)
- Then add the tomatoes and fry till they become soft.
- Then add the ambot tik grinded masala and fry for 2- 3 minutes
- Add water according to your curry needed and stir it nicely.
- When the curry comes to boil add the shark slices to it, then cook on low flame till the fish is done and tender
- After thant check and add the salt, sugar, vingear as required and let it cook for another 5 minutes
- Check for the vinegar and sugar and add if required for the ambot tik
- And the Delicious Ambot Tik Curry Goan Style is ready, which can be served with steamed rice or bread.
Notes
- If shark / pilo is not available, other fish can be used like ( mackeral, sardine, catfish, prawns (squids), lepo or pomfrets).
