For Grinding Goan Sorak Paste
- 1/2 cup freshly grated coconut
- 4Â dry kashmiri chillies
- 4Â cloves garlic
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 tbsp coriander seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 3 – 4 peppercorns (optional)
For Goan Sorak Curry
- 1Â medium onion chopped finely
- 1Â slit green chilly
- 2 cups water
- 3Â kokums
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- salt to taste
Instructions
- For Goan Sorak Curry, grind together the ingredients in the grinding with water to a fine smooth paste and keep it aside. Add some water to the mixer jar and restore the water for further cooking.
- Heat oil in the cooking pan, add the onions and fry till transparent.
- Add the slit green chilly and fry few seconds
- Then add the grinded masala and saute for 3 – 4 minutes.
- Then add the water restored for further cooking and kokum, and mix it very well.
- Add more water if required according to your curry thickness
- Add the salt to taste
- Bring this to a boil and then cover the lid and let it cook to 7 -8 minutes.
- After that the Goan Veg Sorak is ready, the Monsoon Curry can be served with steamed boiled rice, pickles, pappad, dried fish fried and you will enjoy this Goan Coconut Curry.
