Ingredients
Scale
- 7 cups water
- 1 1/2 gram cup oily redwashed
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 5 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp red chilli powder
- 1 1/2 tbsp coriander powder
- 65 g jaggery crushed
- 1Â medium tomato chopped
- 5Â green chillies slit
- 7Â cocums washed
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves chopped (for garnish)
TEMPERING
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 2Â whole dry red chillies
- 1Â sprig curry leaves
- pinch a largeof asafoetida (hing)
Instructions
- Pour 4 cups water into cooker. Add red gram, turmeric powder and salt. Stir once.
- Put into cooker and cook for 3 mins after getting full pressure, and then cool naturally
- Then open cooker and mash dal to blend with liquid
- Place the cooker with dal on high heat. Add remaining water (3 cups) and other ingredients except the tempering part.
- Reduce the heat and cook for 5 mins stirring occasionally
- For tempering, heat oil in a pan for 1 min. Add mustard and cumin seeds. When crackling, add red chillies, curry leaves and asafoetida. Stir for a few seconds and pour over dal. Stir and serve gujarati tuvar dal hot
