Ingredients
Scale
7 cups water
1 1/2 gram cup oily redwashed
1 tsp turmeric powder
5 tsp salt
1 tbsp red chilli powder
1 1/2 tbsp coriander powder
65 g jaggery crushed
1Â medium tomato chopped
5Â green chillies slit
7Â cocums washed
2 tbsp coriander leaves chopped (for garnish)
TEMPERING
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
2Â whole dry red chillies
1Â sprig curry leaves
pinch a largeof asafoetida (hing)
Instructions
Pour 4 cups water into cooker. Add red gram, turmeric powder and salt. Stir once.
Put into cooker and cook for 3 mins after getting full pressure, and then cool naturally
Then open cooker and mash dal to blend with liquid
Place the cooker with dal on high heat. Add remaining water (3 cups) and other ingredients except the tempering part.
Reduce the heat and cook for 5 mins stirring occasionally
For tempering, heat oil in a pan for 1 min. Add mustard and cumin seeds. When crackling, add red chillies, curry leaves and asafoetida. Stir for a few seconds and pour over dal. Stir and serve gujarati tuvar dal hot
