Description

Murgi Ma Kaju / Kaju Ni Murghi is a very delicious and tasty chicken dish cooked in Parsi Style. In this dish cashew nuts are used to get that taste. Very nice dish to serve to guest and any occasion in your house. We really enjoyed this cashew chicken dish from our childhood, it is really worth trying. Check our other chicken recipes


Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 grams ginger
  • 10 garlic cloves
  • 1 + 1/2 kilograms  chicken pieces
  • 10 dry red kashimir chillies (soaked in 1/2 cup hot water for 15 minutes)
  • 1 teaspoons cumin seeds
  • 1/2 cup cashew nuts (broken to pieces)
  • 1 + 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 250 grams sliced onions
  • salt (as required)
  • 3 tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

  1. For Chicken with Cashew, grind together ginger and garlic into a paste and rub on chicken. Allow marinating for about 1 hour.
  2. Grind together chillies and cumin seeds into a paste, adding a little water in which chillies were soaked, from time to time
  3. Seperately grind cashew nuts into a paste, adding a little water (1/2 cup) from time to time
  4. Heat oil in cooker for about 3 minutes. Add onions and fry till golden brown.
  5. Add chilli paste. Stir and fry for about 3 mins.
  6. Add Chicken. Fry for about 10 mins.
  7. Add salt and remaining water (1 cup). Mix well.
  8. Close cooker. Bring to full pressure on high heat. Reduce heat and cook for 5 mins
  9. Remove cooker from heat. Allow to cool naturally
  10. Open cooker. Place cooker with chicken on high heat. Stir in cashewnut paste, tomato ketchup and sugar
  11. Cook till gravy thickens (approx 2 mins). stirring constantly. Serve the Murgi Ma Kaju / Kaju Ni Marghi (cashew chicken) hot.
