Description
Fish Pulao is another version of biryani also known as machi pulav. This fish pulav is easy to cook with simple ingredients in one pan. Machi pulav is very common dish in India. Check how to make fish pulao.
Ingredients

- 4 cups Basmati rice (soaked in water)
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 1/2 cup fish pieces (approx 1″)
- 3Â red dry chillies (ground)
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1Â lemon
- 2Â large onions (sliced thinly)
- 15Â peppercorns
- 6Â cloves
- 2Â 1 cinnamon sticks
- 8Â white cardamon (crushed)
- 1 1/2 tsp cumin seeds powder
- 2Â bay leaves
- salt (oil and ghee as required)
Instructions
- For Fish Pulao, first, wash and drain the rice, wash the fish pieces in water.
- Apply little salt and lemon juice and keep it for 45 minutes
- Heat 3 tbsp oil in shallow frying pan and season it with peppercorn, cloves, cinnamon sticks, crushed cardamons and bayleaf.
- Add ground chillies and the ginger garlic paste, and fry for few seconds
- Add fish and fry till the oil seperates.
- Add in rice, turmeric, cumin seed powder and salt
- Fry till the rice comes to pale yellow color
- Pour 3 cups of hot water and squeeze in the lemon juice and make the fire medium.
- Cook till the fish is tender adn rice is cooked
- In another frying pan heat 1.5 tbsp of ghee and add onion slices
- Fry till they are brown and crisp, take out and keep aside
- Pour the remaining ghee over the fish pulav and mix well
- Then spread the fried onions over the machi pulav
