What is Goan Bebinca?

The Goan Bebinca is a multi-layered cake pudding, mostly made with coconut milk, flour, eggs, sugar, cardamom powder and nutmeg powder. The Goan Bibik can be made with any custom layers of your choice, initially start making Bebinca with less layers.

This traditional Goan Bebinca recipe is also called the ‘Queen of Goan Desserts‘.

What Is Bebinca Made Of

Bebinca Recipe Ingredients

  • thick coconut milk
  • sugar
  • refined flour maida
  • egg yolks
  • nutmeg powder
  • cardamon powder elaichi
  • ghee
  • pinch of salt
  • sugar

How to Make Goan Bebinca Cake At Home

  1. To Make Goan Bebinca / Goan Bibik, first, extract thick coconut milk. Then take the coconut milk and add sugar to it and nicely dissolve it. Next, take the egg yolks, lightly beat them, and add this to the coconut milk mixture. Nicely whisk this to a smooth mixture.
  2. Next mix the refined flour, nutmeg powder, cardamon powder, and salt together and add this powder mixture to the coconut milk mixture very well without any lumps. Strain the mixture to get a smooth batter. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C, further divide the batter into 2 parts, and then bake the batter into layers.
  3. For sugar caramel take 1 tablespoon sugar and burn it on low fire, add 2 tablespoons water stir it, and let it cool down. Add the caramel into one batter portion for the brown color. Take a round baking pan with a deep height, heat it, and then put 2 to 3 tbsp ghee and nicely spread it all over. Add half cup dark color batter and bake for 15 minutes, then apply little ghee on the baked layer. Then add half a cup light color batter on the baked layer with ghee and bake for another 15 minutes and then apply ghee. Repeat this adding light and dark batter alternatively and baking till the batter is consumed.
  4. Then let it cool down naturally and remove it on a big wide plate. Bebinca Goan Sweet Dessert is ready, cut them into slices before serving

How to Serve Goan Bebinca Dessert Cake/ Goan Bibik

Goan Bebinca is cut into slices and served mostly with a scoop of ice cream. The Goan Bebinca / Bibik can also be served warm or cold according to your taste.

Bebinca Recipe Ingredients

  • 250 ml thick coconut milk
  • 400 gms sugar
  • 150 gms refined flour maida
  • 9 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp nutmeg powder
  • 1/2 tsp cardamon powder elaichi
  • 120 gms ghee
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Instructions

  1. To Prepare Bebinca / Bibinka / Bibik take the thick coconut milk and add sugar and nicely dissolve it.
  2. Take the egg yolks, lightly beat it and then add it to the coconut juice and sugar mixture, and nicely whisk this to a smooth mixture.
  3. Now mix together the refined flour, nutmeg powder, cardamon powder and salt, and then add this to the coconut juice, sugar and egg yolk mixture without any lumps. Then Strain the mixture to get a smooth batter.
  4. Then divide this batter into 2 equal parts, and then to bake this batter into layers, preheat the oven to 180 deg C
  5. For sugar caramel take 1 tbsp sugar and burn it on low fire, and add 2 tbsp water stirring and let it cool down, then add the caramel into one batter portion for the brown color.
