Ingredients

1 kg chicken cut into pieces
1 tsp turmeric powder for marination
1 tsp salt
Xacuti Marination Masala
3 inch ginger
10 cloves garlic
1 ⁄2 bunch coriander
4 green chilies
Xacuti Onion Mixture
1 tsp oil
2 sliced onions
2 green chilies chopped
2 inch ginger
10 cloves garlic
1 cups +1/2coconut grated
Xacuti Roasting Masala
3 inch cinnamon
3 cardomons peeled
1 tsp aniseeds saunf
1 tsp peppercorns
1 tbsp poppyseeds kuskus
2 tbsp coriander seeds
9 kashmiri red chilies
1 star anise
1 mace flower (javitri)
1 inch ⁄4nutmeg
1 tsp turmeric powder
Xacuti Cooking
2 tbsp oil
2 large chopped onions
2 slit green chilies
1/2 cup water
Instructions
Grind together ginger, garlic and coriander, chillies to a paste.
Apply salt, tumeric powder and the grinded paste to the chicken and keep aside for 30 minutes.
In the frying pan put oil and saute the sliced onions, green chillies, ginger, garlic till the onions are tender (3 minutes)
Add the grated coconut and fry for another 10 to 12 minutes till the onions are roasted or crispy brown and keep aside.
Heat frying pan and roast kashmiri chillies for a few seconds and keep aside
Then roast the cinnamon, cardomons, aniseeds, peppercorns, poppyseeds (kuskus), coriander seeds, star anise, mace flower (javitri), tumeric
Grind together the xacuti onion mixtu re and xacuti roasted mixture to a fine xacuti masala paste.
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a frying pan add chopped onions and green chillies and fry till onions are tender
Add the marinated shakuti chicken pieces and nicely stir and cook on high heat for atleast 3 minutes
Then add the grinded xacuti masala paste and cook for another 5 minutes and add water and cook for another 10 minutes till the shakuti chicken is tender
Garnish the Goan Chicken Xacuti (Shakuti) with coriander leaves.
