Ingredients
For Goan Fish Caldine Curry
- 500 gms pomfrets cleaned and washed
- 1 onion finely chopped medium
- 1 tomato finely chopped medium
- 1/2 inch ginger grated
- 2 – 3 green chillies slit
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- salt and vinegar as required
For Goan Fish Caldino Masala Paste
- 1/2 cup fresh coconut scraped
- 3 tsp coriander seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds jeera
- 4 flakes garlic
- 6 peppercorns
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 small sized ball of tamarind
Instructions
- For Goan Caldine Fish Curry, first, slice the pomfrets into pieces and apply salt to prepare pomfret caldinho.
- Grind all the ingredients in Fish Caldino Masala Paste with warm water to fine paste
- Then extract and strain the juice of this Fish caldinho paste, which is thick caldine juice and keep it aside
- Then extract more caldin juice out of the remaining seperately with little more warm water and keep seperately, which will be thin caldine juice
- Heat oil in the cooking pan and fry onions till they become soft, then add ginger and further fry for few seconds
- Then add tomatoes and saute till they become soft
- Further add the thin caldine juice and bring it to a boil
- Slowly add the pomfret pieces and chillies and let it cook till the pomfret it nearly done.
- Then add the thick caldino juice and sugar and slowly stir it (DON’T STIR TOO MUCH)
- Then add the vinegar and salt according to your taste and let it cook till completely done.
- And finally your Goan Pomfret Caldine /Â Pomfret Caldinho Curry Recipe is ready to be served with rice .
